FRE
What is FRE?
Forecast Recast Events (FRE) are internal adjustments Amazon makes to its purchase order forecasting system. These events are triggered when Amazon detects significant changes in the supply-demand landscape, such as:
- Upcoming deals or promotions (e.g., Prime Day, Black Friday)
- Large one-time bulk purchases
- Product lifecycle shifts (e.g., end-of-life or replacement)
- Unexpected spikes or drops in sales velocity
- Vendor-side constraints or capacity issues
When an FRE occurs, Amazon's system recalculates future demand projections and adjusts forecasted POs accordingly, often overriding previously suggested orders.
This ensures that:
- Inventory aligns with updated demand patterns
- Overbuying or understocking is minimized
- Vendors are better aligned with actual operational realities
💡 Example: If a vendor’s product is suddenly featured in a sitewide deal, an FRE may trigger to boost forecasted orders and prevent stockouts.
In short:
FRE is Amazon’s way of automatically updating PO forecasts in response to major demand or supply shifts, ensuring purchasing stays accurate and dynamic.
