FC

A Fulfilment Centre (FC) is a facility operated by Amazon where goods from sellers (especially those using Fulfilment by Amazon - FBA) are received, stored, packed, and shipped to end customers. These centres are the backbone of Amazon’s logistics network and play a key role in fast delivery services like Prime.

Key functions of an FC:

• Receives and scans inbound inventory from sellers or vendors
• Stores items until an order is placed
• Picks, packs, and ships products directly to customers
• Handles returns and product inspections

FC types include:

• Sortable FCs – for standard-sized products
• Non-sortable FCs – for bulky or irregular items
• Specialty FCs – for apparel, fresh groceries, or dangerous goods

Why it matters for sellers:

• Products in FCs are eligible for Prime delivery
• Inventory in FCs is shown as “in stock” and available to ship immediately
• FCs allow sellers to outsource logistics, reduce delivery times, and scale faster

💡 Example: A 3P seller sends 1,000 units of a yoga mat to an Amazon FC. Once customers place orders, Amazon picks, packs, and delivers the mats from the FC without the seller lifting a finger.
