LPN
What is LPN?
A License Plate Number (LPN) is an internal Amazon identifier used to track, scan, and manage individual inventory units within its Fulfilment Centers (FCs). LPNs are primarily used on returned items, damaged goods, or unfulfillable inventory that requires special handling.
Key characteristics of LPNs:
- Typically a white sticker with a unique barcode
- Assigned automatically by Amazon
- Allows FC employees to locate, evaluate, and process individual items
- Used to isolate and identify specific inventory units separately from sellable stock
- Helps manage returns, warehouse transfers, or quality control issues
Common use cases:
- Returned FBA items awaiting inspection or reclassification
- Damaged or unsellable products held in the FC
- Units being relabeled or reassessed
💡 Example: An FBA item returned by a customer is no longer sellable. Amazon assigns it an LPN for internal tracking during the damage review and disposal process.
In short:
LPN (License Plate Number) is Amazon’s unique internal label used to track and manage individual inventory units - especially returns, damaged goods, or non-sellable items in fulfilment centers.
