3PS - Amazon Glossary

    What is 3PS?

A Third-Party Seller (3PS) is any non-Amazon entity that uses Amazon’s Seller Central platform to offer products to customers. These sellers are not employees or divisions of Amazon - they are independent businesses that manage their own inventory, pricing, listings, and operations.

There are millions of 3PS accounts globally, including:

    • Private label brands
    • Resellers
    • Wholesalers
    • Dropshippers
    • Handmade/artisan creators
    • Local businesses

    Third-party sellers can use either:

    • FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) - Amazon handles storage and shipping
    • FBM (Fulfillment by Merchant) - the seller handles fulfillment

    The listing will typically show:

    • "Sold by [Seller Name], Fulfilled by Amazon" (FBA)
    • or "Ships from and sold by [Seller Name]" (FBM)

Being a 3PS gives sellers full control over their business, and Amazon provides tools for advertising, promotions, reviews, and reporting. As of today, third-party sellers account for the majority of units sold on Amazon.
