HPO
What is HPO ?
A Hot Purchase Order (HPO) is an Amazon PO flagged for expedited handling, often related to:
- Upcoming major events like Prime Day, Black Friday, or Cyber Monday
- Low or out-of-stock situations on high-velocity ASINs
- Unexpected spikes in demand or trending products
- Marketing or promotional campaigns requiring guaranteed stock
Key characteristics of an HPO:
- Marked as high priority in Vendor Central
- May come with a shorter lead time or delivery window
- Requires fast vendor response and fulfillment
- Can trigger chargebacks if missed or delayed
Vendors are expected to treat HPOs with urgency to ensure availability and performance continuity across Amazon’s retail channels.
💡 Example: Amazon issues an HPO for a top-selling sunscreen just ahead of a flash summer deal - the vendor must ship it immediately to meet demand.
In short:
HPO is a high-priority Amazon purchase order that requires fast action from vendors to meet urgent demand or support time-sensitive sales events.
