What is GMS?

Gross Merchandise Sales (GMS) is a high-level metric that reflects the total sales volume of goods sold on Amazon over a specific period, regardless of whether Amazon or a third-party seller fulfilled the order.

    GMS includes:

    • All product sales (1P and 3P)
    • Before deductions for returns, refunds, discounts, or fees
    • Across all channels - FBA, FBM, Vendor Central, etc.

    Why GMS matters:
It represents the top-line revenue activity on the platform

    • Used to measure overall marketplace performance
    • Often serves as a benchmark in category or business reviews
    • Helps vendors and sellers understand their sales velocity in the broader ecosystem

💡 Example: If a seller sells 10,000 units of a $20 product, the GMS would be $200,000 - even if some items are later returned or discounted.

    In short:
GMS is the total value of all goods sold on Amazon before any adjustments - a key metric for understanding gross sales performance.
