What is AOC?

AOC (Amazon Owned Carrier) is a logistics option available to 1P vendors participating in Direct Fulfillment (DF). In this model, the vendor ships directly to the customer - but Amazon decides which shipping carrier to use and arranges the pickup.

    Here’s how it works:

    • Amazon sends an order to the vendor through Direct Fulfillment
    • The vendor prepares the order, prints Amazon’s shipping label, and gets it ready for pickup
    • Amazon’s chosen carrier (an AOC) picks it up and delivers it to the customer
    • Vendor doesn’t have to negotiate or pay separately for shipping

    This contrasts with:

    • VOC (Vendor Own Carrier), where the vendor chooses and pays for the carrier, and is responsible for shipping performance

    Benefits of AOC:

    • Less operational complexity for the vendor
    • Faster shipping using Amazon’s preferred network
    • Easier to meet Prime shipping promises
    • Amazon handles carrier tracking and delivery coordination

    Important notes:

    • AOC is only available to vendors approved for Direct Fulfillment
    • Amazon may use AMZL (Amazon Logistics) or third-party carriers depending on region and capacity
    • Vendors must follow strict packaging and labeling standards to remain eligible

    In short:

AOC = Amazon handles the shipping carrier and pickup for Direct Fulfillment vendors. You pack - Amazon delivers.
