What is ASN?

ASN (Advanced Shipment Notification) is an electronic document submitted through Vendor Central that provides Amazon with detailed information about an upcoming shipment, before it physically arrives at the fulfillment center.

    An ASN includes:

    • Purchase Order (PO) number
    • Number of cartons and units per SKU
    • Pallet configuration (if applicable)
    • Carrier and tracking info
    • Estimated arrival date
    • Carton IDs (for AMZNCC barcodes)

    Why it matters:

    • Amazon uses the ASN to prepare for receiving the goods
    • Ensures faster and more accurate check-in and processing
    • Helps avoid delays, errors, or chargebacks for incomplete or unexpected deliveries
    • ASN is linked to AMZNCC labels, allowing Amazon to scan and confirm carton contents quickly

Failure to submit a correct ASN can lead to:

    • Chargebacks for non-compliance
    • Refused shipments or receiving delays
    • Inaccurate inventory in the system

For Direct Fulfillment, a different version of ASN is used (DF ASN), but the principle is the same: inform Amazon in advance, with all required shipment data.

    In short:

ASN = your digital heads-up to Amazon about what’s in your shipment and when it’s arriving - required for smooth, compliant delivery.
