Introduction to API Connections
Olivia Reyes
Connecting your Amazon account via the Selling Partner API (SP API) is the most important step in transforming SoldScope from a general research tool into a personalized, automated command center for your business.
The SP API is the official, secure gateway provided by Amazon that allows third-party applications like SoldScope to access and sync your store’s data safely. By establishing this connection, you move beyond "estimated" data and begin working with actual, first-party information directly from Amazon.
Which Tools Require API Connection?
While some SoldScope features work with public marketplace data, the following tools rely on the SP API to provide their most advanced insights:
Rank Tracker & Keyword Research: These tools use the API to supplement standard data with Amazon Brand Analytics. This allows you to see official search frequency ranks and conversion metrics directly alongside your keyword positions.
Listing Builder: With a connected API, you can import your live listings directly into the builder. After optimizing your copy, you can sync those changes back to Amazon Seller Central with a single click—no manual copy-pasting required.
Reimbursement Service: This tool requires an SP API connection to function. It scans your Inventory Ledgers and Order Reports 24/7 to identify lost or damaged inventory that Amazon owes you for. Without the API, the tool cannot access the reports needed to find your money.
Note: We are constantly developing new features. This list will continue to grow as we integrate more automated tools into the SoldScope ecosystem.
Security & Data Privacy
We understand that your Seller Central data is your company's most sensitive asset. SoldScope is built with a security-first approach:
Official OAuth Handshake: We never see or store your Amazon password. You authorize SoldScope through Amazon’s official "handshake" process, and you can revoke this access at any time directly from your Seller Central account.
Principle of Least Privilege: We only request access to the specific data points needed to run our services (e.g., Product Listing, Brand Analytics, and Finance data).
Encrypted Transmission: All data exchanged between Amazon and SoldScope is encrypted using industry-standard protocols to ensure your information is never exposed.
Check our Security & Compliance page for more information.
Preparation for Connection
To use the API Connection features, you will need:
An Amazon Professional Seller account (Individual plans do not support API access).
Administrator access to your Seller Central account to complete the initial authorization.
